McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C (BuNo 164632) - VFC-12 Fighting Omars

In late 2006 and early 2007, the US Navy's VFC-12 Fighting Omars changed aircraft from the F/A-18A to the F/A-18C. Along with the change in aircraft came a change in the paint scheme. The aircraft were painted to resemble SU-27 aircraft from the former Soviet Union. This was a brand new paint job when it came through Grand Junction in Mar 07 and happened to be pretty worn down when it came back through just over a month later.

This photo was published in a publication called: On Target Profile No. 9 - F/A-18A/B/C/D Hornet in Worldwide Service.

This is one of my favorite photos and is now framed and hangs on the wall in my office.
